Our team is pleased to announce that Spoiler Alert is one of fourteen companies accepted into the spring cohort of Techstars Boston, one of the leading startup accelerator programs in the world.

Programs such as Techstars offer tremendous resources for early-stage, growth-oriented startups - including mentorship and financing support - that will help us take the power of our core marketplace platform and expand it to other major geographies in other parts of the country.

We are excited to be part of the 10th Techstars program in Boston and to follow in the footsteps of other notable foodtech and cleantech startups who call Beantown home, including Freight Farms and Ecovent.

The Spoiler Alert platform is easily scaled and will be expanding to other geographic regions following our New England launch late last year. Our initial group of users - more than 100 food businesses, farms and nonprofit organizations - have provided important feedback to improve Spoiler Alert’s functionality and user experience, making it as seamless as possible for organizations to find more optimal outcomes for food - no matter the type or quality.

Our acceptance into Techstars comes at a time when legislation across the country is 1) limiting commercial food businesses’ ability to send food waste to landfill, and 2) encouraging food donations through enhanced tax incentives. Much of this wasted food has value, yet businesses are often disconnected from surplus food and organic waste recovery organizations and lack a real-time solution for their waste challenges.

Spoiler Alert’s acceptance into Techstars comes three months after becoming one of the 2015 Winners of MassChallenge, the largest accelerator program in the world. Through MassChallenge, we were awarded a $50,000 grant and a $10,000 scholarship from the John W. Henry Family Foundation.

Be sure to subscribe to our newsletter to follow our progress over the next few months. Exciting times ahead for all involved!
